Friday, May 31
Howl Festival (Tompkins Sq. Park)

This blowout of art, music and poetry honors the late poet Allen Ginsberg, with scrappy performances and participatory events in and around Tompkins Square Park all weekend long. 

Saturday, June 1
School of American Ballet’s 2013 Workshop Performances (Lincoln Center) 2pm and 8pm

The school’s preprofessional students perform an all-Balanchine program that includes Divertimento No. 15, Le Tombeau de Couperin andWalpurgisnacht Ballet. Tickets are $50.

Sunday, June 2
The Block Is Hot! Block Party (St. Nicholas Ave and Troutman St, Bushwick, Brooklyn) 

Local roots-punk faves Wild Yaks top the bill at an all-day outdoor blowout in Bushwick. Sounds irresistible, if you ask us! Other bands appearing include Las Rosas and Call of the Wild (featuring ex-members of Harlem and Awesome Color, respectively), as well as the Foxygen spin-off Dian’s Coffee.
